This handcrafted, Native American inspired pendant design features the ever so popular No. 8 Turquoise exhibiting shades of blue/green with a distinct brown matrix running throughout. This amazing Modern Southwestern style pendant was fabricated from sterling silver. The backside of the pendant, as well as the fine silver bezel that surrounds the stone, was fused with recycled sterling silver dust, my favorite texture.

This handcrafted sterling silver pendant is hung from a brown faux suede cord, which compliments the brown matrix throughout. Additionally the hammered sterling silver clasp, and jump rings have all been hand fabricated. And finally, all of the handcrafted sterling silver components, in addition to the pendant, were given a patina bath, followed by a light polish to bring out the texture highlights for that rusticated finish I love.

Although I do not design long necklaces very often, I intended this Native inpired turquoise necklace to be worn as a longer style necklace. It is a casual but a very beautiful necklace, with an amazing, Modern Southwestern style pendant drawing all of the attention, and it definitely does!

This turquoise pendant, as well as the matching ring, did come out a bit pricier than I expected, but a lot of time went into designing these unique pieces (not to mention the price of silver). And in case you were wondering, all of my jewelry designs are handcrafted by me. This finished pendant came out exactly how I imagined … I hope you like it as much as I do.

The No.8 turquoise mined in Eureka County, Nevada was discovered in 1925 and first mined in 1929. At present, the mine is closed to turquoise mining, so having a piece of this very sought after turquoise is becoming rare and expensive.
