This handcrafted, Native American inspired pendant design features a stunning, light blue, Sleeping Beauty Turquoise gemstone. This amazing pendant was fabricated from sterling silver with a hammered texture on the back side. The fine silver bezel and the bail were also given the same texture. Additionally the sterling silver clasp and the cork cord end caps have all been hand fabricated. And finally, all of the handcrafted sterling silver components, in addition to the pendant, were given a matte, satin finish.

This Sleeping Beauty Turquoise sterling silver pendant is displayed on black cork cord. The cork cord is an awesome substitute for leather cord. It looks and feels so much like the leather cord that I have used in the past, but without the inhumane treatment of animals that is associated with leather products.

The Sleeping Beauty Turquoise mine is near Globe, Arizona. The stone received its name from the mountains around the mine, which are shaped like a sleeping woman. However, this mine closed in 2012.

Surprisingly, the mine didn't close due to a lack of turquoise. This mine produced both turquoise and copper, and when it was sold to a new owner, they chose to focus on copper mining instead.

This closure affected the sleeping beauty turquoise market and the prices have drastically increased since 2012. The most valuable Sleeping Beauty Turquoise stones will also have no matrix or discolorations.
