When I chose to design with this amazing ametrine druzy crystal, I wanted to create a pendant that was unlike anything I had ever designed before. Upon finishing this handmade ametrine sterling silver pendant, I knew I had designed a special piece. I just love this ametrine necklace design!
This ametrine druzy crystal is displayed in an open setting, front and back, being held in place with sterling silver prongs. To have a natural stone connect directly to the skin, when the back side of the stone setting is open, isn’t always an option but it is preferred when possible. The pendant hangs from an organic sterling silver branch from which the ametrine crystal has the freedom to swing back and forth.
This ametrine pendant definitely needed a handcrafted chain and clasp to complete this look. I chose to design an organic round-ish link chain using 18ga sterling silver wire. The clasp and each link have been given a hammered texture and the entire pendant, chain, and clasp were finished in a matte satin finish.
Ametrine is kind of an enigma. It is formed under specific geologic conditions, resulting in a distinct blend of amethyst (purple) and citrine (yellow) hues as part of a single crystal specimen. Nature aka Mother Earth can design some really amazing and beautiful crystal combos.
