Sooooo pretty ... green amethyst druzy quartz set on a handcrafted sterling silver ring.  This "green" amethyst, which actually looks more blue/gray than green, is full of tiny crystals that catch the light in all directions.

To design this sterling silver band, I fused fine silver dust to create the texture and did the same with the stone setting.  As an additional design element, I added sterling silver prongs to keep this amethyst beauty extra safe and secure.

This green amethyst quartz druzy (or drusy) material came from Uruguay.  The term "Druzy" refers to the tiny crystals that are formed within or on the surface of another gemstone. When the ground water that carries dissolved silica is forced to fill into porous areas of rock, rapid cooling occurs and it causes the formation of minute crystals.

Druzy Quartz is said to aid in balancing and increasing energy. Throughout history, druzy quartz has been used to diagnose disease.  Druzy quartz is also believed to enhance natural extrasensory perception abilities.

This handmade green amethyst druzy sterling silver ring measures as a size 9 but because of the thickness of the band, fits like a size 8.5.  The stone setting measures 1 1/4" by  1". The sterling silver ring shank measures 1/2" tapering smaller closer to the ring setting.
